Describe the choices that were made by Germans in response to Kristillnacht. What choice might you have made?
Andre:
Andre was only a twelve year old boy when this all happened. One day during his youth meeting, they were decided to through stones at Jewish stores the next day. When Andre came home, he was not sure of what he should do. So when he asked his dad, he said that you could make you own chose and the family will cope with it. So Andre decides to not throw stones to them. The next day, the whole family moved out of Germany. Andre's act of courage was only possible because of the trust his dad put in him.
Melita Maschmann:
Although Mashmann was aware of what had happened, thanks to the devastated village she walked into in the morning, she decided to totally ignore the fact that anything was happening at all. She purposely changed he point of view to what would have kept her safe. So even after being aware of everything that was going on, she chose to choose a life that would lead her to safety during the time. It is also true that most of the German citizens reacted this way too.
The way I would have reacted?
I can not be completely sure because although I know what had happened but I have not expierenced it myself. But I think I would expect myself to be secretly helping them up to the point where my life wouldn't be dangerous. This is because I get scared when I am doing something I'm not supposed to be doing and being caught with a Jewish people in your house by the "Fuhrer" would be a nightmare for me. But I would feel really bad so I would provide them with food and clothing if they have a place to live.
